Tv shows

Top 10 Tv shows in UK:

1. Glee
No-one can doubt how successful this global phenomenon has been over the past year. With the sing-along factor cranked up to the maximum, all the show's cast have become overnight stars, with several of their songs making top ten’s around the world. And let’s not forget coach Sue Sylvester, who will go down in history as one of the most memorable and hilarious TV characters ever.
2. Sherlock
Who would've thought such a classic story would be so successful in the modern era? It was a risk, but the writers succeeded in making an internet and GPS-savy Sherlock Holmes highly watchable and wholly believable.
3. The good wife
Great script-writing makes this legal drama stand out from the rest. It is strengthened by unconventional and unusual twists and interesting characters like Kalinda Sharma, who earned Archie Panjabi an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress this year.
4. This is England ´86
Shane Meadows' TV adaptation of his hit film had us crying whilst simultaneously shouting at the small screen earlier this year. A second series is apparently in the works for 2011, set during the rave scene of the 1990s.
5. Wonders of the solar system
Physicist Brian Cox did the seemingly unthinkable when he made the Solar System sexy, with a series that focused on the 'wonder' of our universe and how it operates. This programme was one of our highest-rating shows of the year, as voted for by TVGuide.co.uk users.
6.  Pineapple dance studios
The cult reality TV show made stars out of flamboyant Artistic Director Louie Spence and deluded wannabe popstar Andrew Stone. All those pirouettes and high kicks brought the camp back into prime-time.
7. The pacific
Once again, HBO came good, with a sister series to the highly-acclaimed Band of Brothers. The spin-off focuses on the US Marine Corps during the Pacific War. With stars like Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks behind the camera, this series was destined to win a mountain of Emmy awards, much like its predecessor.
8. An idiot abroad
Ricky Gervais' hapless mate Karl Pilkington brought us his unique take on the Seven Wonders of the World. From comparing the Great Wall of China to the M6 to observing floating dirty nappies outside The Pyramids, this really was a travel show with a difference.
9. Misfits
Another one of the highest-rating shows on TVGuide.co.uk, the comedy has proved that it's just as good the second time around. With razor-sharp wit and edge-of-your-seat action, this show is unlike anything else on TV right now. It makes our Top Ten for the second year running.
